With Spring upon us, TVFD members took advantage of the nice weather and worked on multiple training topics, all pertaining to brush/woods fires. Crews worked on setting up advanced forestry hose line setups, constructing and maintaining firelines using hand tools and leaf blowers. A second evolution was done by having the trucks move down the road and return to the training ground in a real life simulation using a caution taped line winding through the woods as a “fire”. Crews deployed from apparatus, set up water supply from Brush 69-3, while Brush 1 & Brush 2 used hand tools, forestry hoses, and leaf blowers to create a fireline.
Also while on this training 2 members worked on learning the pumps on the Brush trucks to complete their upcoming driver/operator certifications.
