Ready for Spring Brush Fire Season

By Lieutenant Darryl Romig
April 8, 2022

In recent weeks, members of the TVFD have been hard at work making sure we are prepared for this upcoming brush/woods fire season. This year we received a grant through Pennsylvania DCNR to update our wildland fire gear. Members received new shirts, pants, gloves, goggles, helmets and storage bags to keep them safe during woods, brush, and field fires. The lighter weight gear is less fatiguing than using structural gear for these fires. The TVFD serves first due and mutual aid to Warwick County Park (535 acres), Hopewell Furnace National Historic Site (848 acres), French Creek State park (7,977 acres), State Game Lands parcel 43 (2,571 acres), and large tracts of privately owned open space.
