Chimney fire Training
By Lieutenant Darryl Romig
December 31, 2021
I’m recent weeks, the TVFD volunteers were busy utilizing training nights to work on chimney fire evolutions. Members reviewed safe practices, chimney kits, ground ladders, and proper climbing techniques. Crews then practiced using ground ladders, along with Ladder 69 to access the chimney and use the chimney kit to clean out the chimney while a separate crew was inside cleaning out the “firebox” . A smoke machine was outfitted to the chimney pipe in the basement to make it more realistic.
