Driver Entrapped after Car Leaves Turnpike

On October 25th at 4:47 PM, TVFD and EMS were dispatched to the Pennsylvania Turnpike Westbound in the area of 293.4 Milemarker In Caernarvon Township Lancaster County for an auto accident with entrapment. Chief 69 arrived on scene first to find a vehicle about 100 feet off the road, down an embankment and into the woods. Chief 69 confirmed that there was one person trapped in the vehicle. Upon arrival, Rescue 69 went in service with tools to access the patient and remove the driver’s door. Engine 69-1 crews arrived a few minutes after the Rescue and assisted with extrication. Once firefighters extricated the driver they transferred patient care over to EMS who transported the patient. Crews cleared the scene in under an hour.
