Passing of Life Member

By Deputy Fire Chief Jason Brooks
October 9, 2016

With deep regret, TVFD announces the passing of life member Ira Mast. Ira began his fire service in 1949 with the Elverson Fire Company both on the fire and EMS side, and later served as a fire police officer. During his service with Elverson, Ira held many positions within the company including fire chief, assistant chief, ambulance committee, and treasurer. Ira was well known in the area and originally owned the farmland the current Twin Valley Fire Department's firehouse is built on. Funeral services were held at the Garden Spot Village Chapel in New Holland, with burial services to follow at the Pine Grove Cemetery in Elverson.

Special thank you to Elverson-Honey Brook EMS, Brandywine Medics, and Lionville FC for their assistance at the firehouse with the funeral procession.

A long time ago, 1972, I was the first assistant fire chief at Norco Fire Co and I was employed as a dispatcher at the original Chester County Fire Board. It seemed like every time that I dispatched the Elverson Fire Co. Ambulance, Ira Mast would respond.

We were so very fortunate to have such a dedicated man in our community who served his entire life.
