By Assistant Fire Chief Jeffrey Cook
April 18, 2007

Box 3308

At 4:20pm The Twin Valley Fire Department was alerted for a full company response to assist Station 33(HoneyBrook) for a report of a Barn Fire in the area of the 600 Block of White School Road.

Initial Reports were given to Engine 33-1 that the second floor of the barn was on fire and horses were still inside. Chester County Fire Board also then advised that the home owner called back and said that there were many flammable liquids inside, and flames were through the roof.

69-30(T.Mast) was first to arrive and reported a 30x40 barn, and confirmed a working fire. With this report Captain 33(J. Artus) was riding Officer of Engine 33-1 and asked for 2nd Alarm and a 1st Alarm Tanker Task Force.

Engine 33-1 arrived and laid a supply line in the driveway. Engine 69-5 arrived seconds behind them and picked up their line out at the hard road. Crews from HoneyBrook, Twin Valley and Churchtown found heavy fire conditions inside on the second floor. Crews also opened up the sides of the barn and cut a couple holes in the roof to get the heat and gases out of the barn.

When it was all said and done, crews made a good stop and held it to the large wood working shop on the second floor of the barn. Engine 69-1 supplied the scene to the fire and Engine 69-5 participated in the tanker shuttle. Rescue 69 filled air bottles.
