Second Fire for the Volunteers in Less Than 8 Hours
By Battalion Fire Chief Jeffrey Cook
September 9, 2010
At 3:16 AM, The Twin Valley Fire Department was alerted to assist Berks Fire Station 24 for a reported building on fire in the area of the 200 block of Chapel Road.
Berks Chief 24(Shirey) was first to arrive and found a 100' x 100' garage type building with fire through the roof.
Ladder 69 arrived and was advised by command to set up in the rear of the building and prepare for a defensive attack with the master stream. Engine 69-5 arrived and was advised to draft out of the pond and supply the fire scene with water. Engine 69-5 and Berks Tanker 23(Gibralter) supplied the whole fire scene with dual 5" lines as Ladder 69 worked side by side with Berks Tower Ladder 25(Exeter) to extinguish the fire.
