First Day of the Year, First Fire
By Captain Corey Hostetler
January 1, 2007
At 5:23 AM, the department was dispatched for an Engine and Tanker to assist the Glenmoore Fire Company, for a reported house on fire on Howson Lane, in Wallace Township. Upon Chief 48's response, fireboard advised that the police department was onscene, and had heavy smoke showing, followed up with a confirmed working kitchen fire. Ladder 69 (09) was added to the box.
The crew from Engine 48-1 made a good knock, keeping the fire contained to the kitchen/living room area. Crews from Engine 69-1 (32-1) and Ladder 69 (09) assisted with overhaul, while Engine 69-5 (TKR32) supplied Engine 48-5.
