Introducing the new “ Lieutenant Keith Gehman Memorial Training Area”

October 13, 2026

Over the past few weeks, many have noticed stakes and flags in the yard at the station. Then dirt being moved. Many questions were asked of what’s being built. Well it’s time for the reveal!

We would like to announce the construction of the…

The Lieutenant Keith Gehman Memorial Training Area

Keith Gehman was a member of Twin Valley Fire Department, rising to the rank of Lieutenant before moving to Loudon County Virginia to start his firefighting career. We tragically lost Keith January 21, 2021. His memory, his impact on those around him, and his dedication to training and the community will not ever be forgotten.

We wanted to remember his dedication and also with the cost of everything going up, especially fuel, a decision was made to build a training pad to be able to do more trainings at our station without destroying the parking lot surface. We approached a few site work companies in the area with our idea, knowing it wasn’t a huge project but it was special for us.
Lyons & Hohl Site Contracting from Honey Brook came to us and said they would donate the work, and stone to build the pad. So once weather was nice, and a few public events were finished, we broke ground.

The pad will be a 50x50 stone pad with an 8x8 wooden border. With weather cooperation, we are hoping to have the area finished by the end of October, with a plaque to be mounted in front of it in the spring.
The plaque will read:

THIS TRAINING AREA IS DEDICATED IN MEMORY OF LIEUTENANT KEITH GEHMAN, IN RECOGNITION OF HIS SERVICE, DEDICATION, AND COMMITMENT TO THE TVFD AND THE SURROUNDING COMMUNITY.

More picture will be posted and updates in the near future!
