May 4, 2026

TVFD units were alerted to Hopewell Road in Warwick Township for reports of a smoke investigation. Upon response, units were advised that a utility worker located a fire in the woods of Hopewell Historic site. Chief 69 requested additional units due to the area being remote and hard to access.

Upon arrival and size up, additional off-road resources were requested, bringing Brush trucks and ATVs from surrounding Companies along with Forestry Crews from DCNR. Crews were assigned to establish hand tool control lines, water supply, and progressive hose lays, Brush trucks were used to transport water back a walking trail to supply the ATVs until a draft site could be established.

A portable pump was used to supply the west flank of the fire along with Brush 69-1. ATV 69 supplied the eastern flank by drafting from an old spring cistern located in the woods. Brush 7, along with multiple hand crews from all companies, and ATVs worked the head of the fire to get it stopped and under control.

Sawyer’s from DCNR were brought in to drop snags and standing trees that were burning. The scene was turned over to DCNR for Nightwatch and they will continue to monitor throughout the coming days until all hotspots are extinguished. In all, the fire consumed about 7 acres.

Thank you to all of our mutual aid companies for assisting.

Thank you to stations 33 (HBFC), 34 (CFC), 73 (LCFC), and 49 (EBFC) for standing by and covering the TVFD local while we operated on this fire. The standby crews handled 3 other incidents during this time.
