April 11, 2023

Today marks the 17 year anniversary of the passing of Fire Chief Michael Romig. It’s hard to believe that 17 years has slipped by us already. No one would have ever thought that we would get that phone call on that cold April morning 17 years ago when God took him away from us.

Mike had been a member of the Elverson Fire Company since 1964 and had held many offices in the organization. Mike was the first elected Fire Chief of the newly organized Twin Valley Fire Department. The passing of Mike had stopped us in our tracks. To honor Mike and his lifetime dedication to the fire service, the Elverson Fire Company voted to make Mike their last Fire Chief.

His dream of the merging of the two companies has turned into reality. The Fire house that Mike often talked about is now complete and busier than its ever been. Mike would be proud of what we have accomplished and we are sure he would want us to keep moving forward. He will be forever remembered in our hearts.

Mike would have been celebrating his 73rd birthday on April 18th 2023.

THE BROKEN CHAIN

We little knew that morning that God was going to call your name,

In life we loved you dearly, in death we do the same.

It broke our hearts to lose you, you did not go alone,

For part of us went with you, the day God called you home.

You left us peaceful memories, your love is still our guide,

And though we cannot see you, you are always at our side.

Our family chain is broken, and nothing seems the same,

But as God calls us one by one, the chain will link again.
