September 1, 2021

Hurricane Ida, the deadly Category 4 storm that became the second most damaging and intense hurricane to hit Louisiana on record behind Hurricane Katrina rolled into the region, bringing with it intense flooding and hundreds of calls for service for Chester County. The Coatesville, Downingtown and surrounding areas were hit the hardest by the storm, with boat units from Chester, Lancaster, Montgomery, Counties along with Newark County Delaware, Harford County Maryland, and a 6 boat task force from New Jersey all working in Chester County.

TVFD responded to multiple vehicle in the water calls while remaining in service to respond to medical emergencies as well. Thankfully no injuries resulted from the storm in our coverage area.

TVFD would like to extend our thoughts, and well wishes to those who are still dealing with the aftermath of the deadly storm.
