At 11:39pm, TVFD and Ambulance 189 were dispatched to a motor vehicle accident at the entrance to the Morgantown Interchange in Caernarvon Berks. While units were enroute, Chester County Fireboard advised of an upgrade to the assignment and added Berks Medic 680 for reports of one subject trapped with an altered mental status. Deputy 69 (Brooks) arrived reporting one vehicle that struck the toll booth and concrete lane dividers, with an elderly male driver confined in the vehicle and appearing disoriented. Ambulance 189-3's crew began assessing the patient, while Rescue 69 and Engine 69-2's crew "popped" the driver's side door. The patient was assisted out of the vehicle and transferred into the ambulance for transport to a local trauma center. Fluids were controlled on the vehicle and debris was removed from the roadway.
