At 5:33pm, TVFD along with Southern Berks Regional EMS Medic 682-8 were dispatched to the Pennsylvania Turnpike Eastbound at Mile Marker 298.9 for an accident with unknown injuries. A passerby reported two cars vs a tractor trailer. Within 5 minutes Rescue 69 was en route with a crew of 5. Shortly after the Rescue went en route, notes were added to the call stating at least 1 patient with a possible head injury. A short time later the call was upgraded to entrapment and Chester County DES sent a re-dispatch, adding Medic 193. Rescue 69 arrived and confirmed 1 patient entrapped. As engine 69-1 went responding firefighters on scene went to work stabilizing and cutting the vehicle. Due to multiple patients, an additional ambulance was requested bringing a second medic from Southern Berks EMS. Due to the condition of the patient entrapped, EMS requested a medevac to be placed on standby. After the arrival of Engine 69-1 EMS stated there was no need for the medevac and they were canceled. A third ambulance was later requested to the scene for another patient. Once the roof was removed from the car, firefighters assisted with transferring the patient to a stretcher. Extrication was marked complete at 18:15. This was the first confirmed entrapment call with the new Rescue 69. TVFD cleared at 6:33pm Hours. |
