At 5:36am, TVFD and EMS were dispatched to a serious accident in the area of Main Street and Valley Road in Caernarvon Berks. Chief 69 (Brooks) arrived confirming one vehicle off the roadway and into a pole, with the driver heavily entrapped. “Main Street Command” was established as Ambulance 89-2 arrived and began to assess the extent of injuries. Crews from Rescue 69 and Engine 69-1 worked diligently to set up an extrication plan as rapidly and safe as possible. The crews faced steep and unstable ground terrain, as well as a difficult angle to remove the entangled occupant using various methods. Once extrication was completed, a stokes basket and rope system were utilized to safely transfer the patient to the EMS crew for transport to a local trauma center. Fire units remained until the vehicle was removed and debris was cleared from the scene.
Final units cleared at 7:15am. |
