At 4:58pm, TVFD and EMS were dispatched to an accident involving fire on the westbound Pennsylvania Turnpike in West Nantmeal. Responding units were advised of a tractor trailer on fire after crashing into a bridge, and can be accessed by going east in the west lanes from the Route 345 entry point. Engine 69-5 arrived with EMS units and Deputy 69 (Brooks) confirmed a fully involved tractor trailer with the driver possibly still entrapped. Rescue 69 arrived and assisted the engine crew with deploying multiple handlines for suppression and to confirm the status of the driver. Chief 69 (Hornberger) established "302 Command" and requested 2 additional tankers to the scene. Crews from Glenmoore FC and Lionville FC arrived and assisted with water supply and suppression efforts. Unfortunately the driver did not get out of the vehicle and succumb to injuries. The turnpike was closed for several hours while crews completed overhaul, recovery, and cleanup efforts.

Thanks to the mutual aid units assisting onscene, and Churchtown FC for covering the Twin Valley area while units were committed.

Final units cleared at 8:55pm.

At 11:33pm, TVFD was alerted for Rescue 69 to assist Station 24 (Geigertown FC) on an accident with entrapment at Route 10 and Moyer Road in Robeson Berks. Chief 69 arrived and relayed through Chester County Fireboard of a single vehicle overturned down the embankment in a creek, with the driver still entrapped. Rescue 69 arrived and deployed multiple extrication tools to assist crews already onscene beginning rescue efforts. An engine was also requested from TVFD to assist, bringing Engine 69-5 into the scene. Upon removal from the vehicle, EMS units confirmed that the victim did not survive the injuries.

Units cleared at 12:33am.

Sympathetic thoughts are extended from our members to both of the victim's family and friends.
