New Brush Truck Goes in Service

By Deputy Fire Chief Jason Brooks
August 7, 2017

TVFD members announce the department's newest piece of apparatus has been placed into service. The unit is a 2008 F-350 brush truck with a utility body. Designated as "Brush 69-2", it features a 250 gallon water tank, a 250 GPM pump, and an assortment of wildland firefighting tools and hoselines. This truck was purchased from the Caernarvon (Berks) Township public works department, and a majority of the work was done by our members in the firehouse to transition the truck into a piece of firefighting equipment. Many hours of designing, preparing, fabricating, and installing equipment went into getting Brush 69-2 into service.

The new Brush 69-2 is replacing a 1986 Chevy pickup truck that was on loan from the PA State Forestry Department and will be returned with TVFD's appreciation for the use of the truck.

Thank you for the help and support on this project from Caernarvon Township, AJ Blosenski Inc, Stauffer Diesel, Metropolitan Communications, and Gust and Westley. Special thanks also to all the TVFD members who helped make this addition to the 69 fleet possible, especially Josh and Ashley Spangler, Joey Esposito, Keith Gehman, Pete Hornberger, and Colt Grazioli.
