By TVFD
March 23, 2017

At 11:08pm, TVFD and EMS were dispatched to an automobile accident on Route 176 northbound in Caernarvon Berks. Shortly after dispatch, the assignment was upgraded to serious and added Medic 93 (Brandywine) and an additional ambulance, due to reports of possible entrapment and one subject unconscious. Responding units were advised of multiple reports of a vehicle travelling the wrong direction and struck another vehicle head on. Chief 69 (Hornberger) arrived on location in the area of milemarker 2, confirming two vehicles partially blocking the roadway with negative entrapment and one subject appearing to have an altered mental status. Rescue 69 and Engine 69-1 arrived and crews assisted with patient care and securing hazards on the vehicles. Squad 69 and fire police controlled traffic to one lane through the scene during the investigation and cleanup. Ambulances 89-1 and 189-1, and Medic 93-5 transported all the victims to a local trauma center for treatment of their injures. Debris and spilled fluids were cleared from the roadway, while the vehicles were removed from the scene. State Police concluded their investigation and all units were released by command.

TVFD returned at 12:19am.

At 2:16am, TVFD was again dispatched for Engine 69-5 to assist Station 23 (Gibraltar) at a truck fire on Route 176 northbound in Robeson Berks. Engine 69-5 arrived at milemarker 5, with crews from Stations 23 and 24 (Geigertown) working on extinguishing a fully involved semi-truck. TVFD crews assisted with suppression and overhaul efforts, while Engine 69-5 assisted with water supply operations. After the incident was under control, Engine 69-5 was released by command.

TVFD cleared at 3:28am.
